Michal Varchola

Artmonia Founder & DANCER

Hi, I'm a tech entrepreneur and former crypto scientist with a passion for tango. My real tango journey began at a milonga in Shanghai in 2018, where I realized that the skills I had acquired from local schools at home were insufficient. Driven by passion, I flew to Buenos Aires and have been addicted to tango ever since. Over the course of 12 weeks in Buenos Aires, I took countless private classes at the famous DNI Tango School with 10-12 different teachers. Additionally, I had the privilege of learning from esteemed dancers such as Gaston Torelli & Gri Montanaro, Lya Elcagu, Silvina Tse, and Pedro Farias.

My startup work has taken me around the world, allowing me to visit milongas in cities like Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna, Munich, New York City, and, of course, Buenos Aires. In early 2020, I settled back in Košice and felt a deep absence of Tango culture. To support the local Tango community, I combined my startup office with a cozy space for Tango. After a four-year delay due to various “forces majeure”, Artmonia Tango Puerta is finally opening on June 22, 2024.

Currently, I operate Artmonia, organize milongas, seminars and workshops, and have started teaching Tango too. I continue to enjoy attending international Tango festivals, marathons and milongas. Write me an email or connect with me on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn

Eva "Evita" Kováčová

TANGO TEACHER & DANCER

Evita's tango journey spans over two decades, reflecting her deep passion and dedication to the dance. She took her first tango steps in Rotterdam in 2001 at one of the local dance schools. After many courses, workshops, and intensive training sessions, she began to engage in tango professionally in the Netherlands as a dancer and teacher. Upon returning to Košice, she became a solid part of the local tango community in this role with great pleasure.

Her determination to master tango in all its details led her, among other places, to Buenos Aires, where she spent several months learning from legendary figures such as Gustavo Naveira, Fabian Salas, Mariano "Chicho" Frumboli, Sebastian Arce, and Mariana Montes. Evita's rich dance experience and extensive training make her classes an inspiring learning experience for her students.
